The name “The Broad Room”, comes from Charlotte Mason’s quote where she refers to psalm 31, verse 8:
“Our aim in education is to give a full life. … We owe it to [the -children] to initiate an immense number of interests. ‘Thou hast set my feet in a broad room’ should be the glad cry of every intelligent soul. Life should be all living, and not merely a tedious passing of time.”
I couldn’t put it any better – “Life should be all living and not merely a tedious passing of time” Especially as we offer that spacious place, that wide room to our children as they learn and grow. Let me encourage you to live life in abundance and enjoy learning alongside your children.
Meet Stephanie:
Philip and I started homeschooling our five children in January 1985. The older two had a couple of spells in school; the younger three never went to school. Four of the five children are now grown, we are homeschooling our youngest child and I am now working on building up my home-based business.
I am a qualified teacher with teaching experience in New Zealand and England. I started The Broad Room in 2002 after over twenty years working as a volunteer, supporting mothers in their mothering and homeschool endeavours.
My vision is to give support to parents as they homeschool their children. I want parents to have the confidence to do what they know in their hearts is the best for them, their own children, and their families, without comparing themselves to other families or succumbing to pressure from well-meaning peers. I hope this website encourages you as you homeschool and parent your children.
