Roughly two years ago my husband Gary and I went to see Stephanie regarding homeschooling our son Ben. She was such a great help – thank you, Stephanie!
It has worked out great for him and at the end of this term he will be eligible for his first NZ Achievement Award Certificate – he has had to complete 7 subjects so we are very proud of him.
Also at the end of this term he will be 16 and has decided to end his school life and go into the work force. We have been able to secure a job for him with a friend of ours in the meat industry, until he is old enough to attend Southseas Film School in Glenfield (you need to be 17). He did a week-long course at the end of last year and loved it. He has a real flair and passion for both still and filming photography and has been on the church “film crew” for the last two years covering services, conferences etc so has been getting lots of practical experience (right up his alley).
He has worked really hard doing various jobs including tutoring 12 students how to play the drums and has managed to save for a car and get his restricted licence so will be able to get himself to and from work!! He wants to save for his own film camera, part of the reason he wants to go to work.
I wanted to let you know his story and once again thank Stephanie for her time helping Ben and me embark on the homeschool journey. We have both learnt heaps – a very rewarding experience all round.
